This semester’s aim is nothing less than to help you live a rich and meaningful life as a responsible human being. That’s right. It is my goal to make you a wonderful, well read, highly intelligent person in just a few short months (and I know I can do it). We will explore what it means to know, to love, to feel, to exist and to question. We will discuss our ultimate values and beliefs and reflect on life’s fundamental questions.
Course Goals:
1. To make you an amazing young person. The kind of person that old ladies are always saying, “Oh she’s so wonderful and thoughtful! So mature, not like most kids these days,” about.
2. No, seroiusly.
3. To give you the tools to president one day:
a) Teach you how to argue. Not how to yell or whine, but how to listen carefully to everything your parents just told you about not being able to have the car this Saturday and then take them down step by step, reasonably, logically, and compellingly.
THIS IS GOING TO BE HARD, BUT YOU CAN DO IT! Remember: no quitting and no excuses.
(and they said you can’t teach 10th graders philosophy!)
